I Am Rosemary’s Grandaughter ~*

She’s the hub of our world, the center of our family circle;

With a smile like a light and a laugh more like a chuckle.

She always worked hard for herself…but mainly for us ~ her loves,

Watching out for our lives and our souls as if we were frail doves.

She has been there always strong and steady, though never silent nor still,

Standing for truth and speaking it clearly making us, her pain, to feel.

Though we didn’t always agree or see eye to eye,

She was always loving and there to hold us when we cry.

Now you are gone and it’s our turn to step up and be strong,

To put aside our differences, think of others and forgive all wrong.

To love Jesus Christ first, others second and ourselves last,

To look to the future, remember the good and learn from the past.

Goodbye Grandma Rosemary, you were my Grandma but you were also my friend,

And now I look to heaven and thank God for your life and a prayer I send.

You will always be a part of my life, as the clay bears the marks of the potter,

Because I know who I am…I am Rosemary’s Grandaughter.

Freedom Isn’t Free ~*

When sin holds us tight, and chains us in the dark and the cold,

We lose our hope, misplace our courage, and we forget how to be bold.

Though we may try to break the chains that bind our heart and soul,

Our own strength is futile, if freedom is our goal.

It matters not how we scream, swear or fight,

Not promises, not pleadings, nor petitions will help us out a mite.

Chained in sin, death and darkness, are we all from Adam’s race,

Cursed to walk in darkness, never seeing God’s glorious face.

You may ask, “Why have you come to tell me, that all our hope is lost?”

Despair is not my message, but you have to know the cost!

For the freedom of our souls, there is a price that must be paid,

An account must be given for all sins which at our feet are laid.

“Freedom is not free!!”, I have heard many people say,

This is true of many things, but especially of your soul this day!

Your soul , from deaths dark clutches, can certainly be released,

Your heart made clean, your sin removed, as far as the west is from the east.

Yet the price of your release, is greater than you can bear,

Death is the price, it must be paid, sin, God’s compassion, does not share.

Now…REJOICE with me, for to you good news I bring,

The price of your release has been paid, paid by the Most High King!

His Son was sent to pay the cost, death He paid for all,

Perfect in His glory, Almighty, Eternal, for us He gave up His heavenly hall.

He came and took our punishment, the beatings, scorn and shame,

He who made the heavens and earth, and knows each star by name.

Bleeding and broken He carried OUR cross, to free us from death and sin,

The Prince of Peace, God of Hosts, knew He would ultimately win…

The moment came, His life poured out, a sinless man was dead!

The demons cheered, the angels wept, it was for US He bled!

Death was conquered soon enough, it had no power over God’s own Son,

He came back to life to give us life and freedom, if only to Him we will come!

He bought our lives, with His own life’s blood, poured out on Calvary,

He opens His arms and has loosed our chains, now we may be free!!!!!!

After all of this, why are so many still in chains?

Why do you choose the darkness, why do you choose the pains?

The door is open, the chains are broken, death defeated and gone,

All you must do is stand up and walk out, open your eyes to the dawn!

God’s only Son bought you, and offers you light and love,

He wishes to make you clean and pure from sin, to be with you forever above.

To welcome you as His child, beloved and friend,

To help you on your way, and to your death to put an end.

Linger no longer in your pit, going deeper into hell!

God has glories in store for you, that words could never tell.

Put your trust in HIM, and He will find you and carry you out,

Out of your chains, darkness and death He will take you, and the enemy He will rout.

Grab a hold and don’t let go, don’t whimper, whine or fuss,

The One who holds you will never leave you, His name is JESUS!

*~Darkness and Light ~*

When all the lights go out around you, and you are left standing in a cold dark place;

Keep your eyes on the light that’s within you, the light of God’s love and His grace.

When all others leave you and push you away,

Keep your eyes on Jesus, don’t let yourself wander or stray.

Though the pain within your heart and your soul is so great you feel as though you’ll explode,

The pain of this world lasts only a moment, while the glories of heaven shall be your eternal abode.

So cower not from the fight that the Lord has laid before your feet,

Fight with confidence in your weakness and God’s strength, never daring to sound retreat.

He has never forsaken you, He shall certainly NOT start now,

God loves you more than you could ever know, and has given you His vow!

Rain On Me *~*

I love the rain.

I love the smell of damp earth, the sound of thunder rolling down our canyon and the sight of lightning flashing across a dark sky.

There are some people who don’t like rain.

I can see why when I ponder on it. Rain is not “comfortable” {especially in northern NM,} it is cold, creates a really big mess {especially if you have dogs} and if you’re from the south west/west then it usually comes with a good dose of horizontal hail just to top it off. Oh! and did I mention that it brings dark, foreboding clouds and it interrupts your schedule like little else will {especially if you live in a place with lots of arroyos}?

So I see why there are days when I find one my favorite things a burden. On a day when I have a picnic with friends planned, or a day at the zoo with the nieces and nephews or just a day when I feel like playing in the sunshine. On days such as these rain is considered to be inconvenient antbest and anger inducing at worst.

I was thinking today how it’s the same in our relationship with God.

Rain is considered a blessing throughout Scripture

Acts 14:17

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Deuteronomy 28:12

The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

But it’s more than just physical rain,  God uses “rain” to teach us and refine us into the Christians He would have us be!

Deuteronomy 32:2

My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

Romans 5:2b~5

… and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

I liken “tribulation” to “rain” in my mind because we treat them the same.

Rain brings about the good end for which it was designed, it is a blessing that many don’t accept and appreciate as God’s good and perfect gift for, not only us, but those around us as well.

Tribulation brings about the good end in our lives for which it is designed and very few of us {myself included most of the time} accept and appreciate the refining that takes place in our lives that could never happen other wise.

Crops won’t grow with out rain.

Fruits of the Spirit won’t grow with out tribulation.
